Only the best quality, long-fibered mulberry silk is used in the making of our duvets. 

During manufacturing, the silk is stretched and pulled the length and width of the duvet size being made. This is a time consuming process and requires 4 ladies to stretch the silk. The silk is able to stretch due to its strength, elasticity and length (up to 1.8 km thread per each cocoon). The purpose of stretching the silk is to create the smooth batting that goes into your duvet. During the process of stretching the silk is also fluffed, filling the fibers with air, so creating the light, cloud like appearance and feel of the batting.

Once the silk is fluffed, it is laid length ways on top of a 100% pure cotton percale cover. The second layer is laid cross ways on top of the first, so creating the grid. This is repeated according to the thickness required per duvet.

Once complete the silk is covered with the top piece of cotton percale. The covers are held in position with cotton ties that help keep the loft within the duvet and prevent the silk from slipping. Finally the duvet is double stitched around the seams so increasing the strength and durability of the duvet. Our duvets are then quality checked before being rolled and packed into carry bags. These bags are useful for protecting ones duvet when being stored or transported or make great laundry bags when travelling.
