Linen from The Silk Duvet Company

We have a wonderful collection of linens ranging from cool 200 thread count cotton percale through to luxurious satin silk.

All our linens are 100% natural, which is a must when sleeping with our silk filled duvets as it fascilitates the breathing ability and prevents perspiration under the covers.

Silk Linen:
Silk is sensationally sensuous, smooth and silky! She is nature’s most elegant and productive elemen, and has a mood of her own. Because of this, she will vary in shade, texture and colour – this variation is the very essence of silk.
Silk sheets and covers are for those who really treasure the finer things in life, and if treated with care, will provide you with years of pleasure!
Our silk duvet covers and sheets come in either Dupion, Habutai or Satin Silk.

Dupion silk is a naturally rough textured silk, which is wonderful for duvet covers, throw and cushions. Our Dupion duvet covers can come with either a Dupion, satin silk or 400 thread count cotton percale backing.

Satin silk is the king of silks. Wonderfully soft and slightly shiny, satin silk makes the best sheets and pillow slips. Satin silk is the perfect option for your hair and skin as it causes the least amount of wrinkling.

Habutai silk is also lovely and soft, however lacks the shine of satin silk. Habutai silk also makes great sheets and throws and is the lightest of our silk fabrics.
Certain colours may be requested as we do dye the silks, however a 5% surcharge will be added and delivery time may be longer. It is important to note that silk fabrics are organic and as such have a mood of their own. This does result in variations of colour when dyeing.

Care:
All silk products need to be cared for with love and total appreciation for the fine fibres. We recommend you hand wash the silk covers and sheets in cold water, with a gentle, organic detergent or something without bleach, such as Woolite.
Hang out to dry and iron using the silk setting found on most irons. Do not tumble dry.
It is important to note that especially with satin silk, cracked heals, beard stubble and other rough things can easily catch and accelerate wear and tear.

Cotton Percale Linens:
Cool and crisp, cotton percale linen is wonderful for all climates. Our percale covers come in 3 types of fabric – namely the 200 thread count percale, the 400 thread count or Egyptian percale and the sateen stripe percale. All our cottons are suitable for both sheets and duvet covers.
Our 200 thread count cotton is of a very high quality and is soft and comfortable to sleep under. With all pure cottons there will be a certain amount of creasing, however the 200tc has the least amount and is easier to iron.

Our 400 thread count cotton is woven with long fibered cotton, making it wonderously soft and durable. The 400tc or Egyptian cotton is the perfect mix of thread count and luxury – going too high with your thread count eventually makes the cotton too thick and it is more difficult for air to pass through the fibers. This ends up making your bed too hot.

Our sateen stripe cotton percale is a lovely mix between the top two percales. The sateen stripe has a thick or thin stripe running through the cotton of the same colour. It is also lovely and soft with a slight detail, accentuating your bedding.

Care:
All cottons can be machine washed, tumble dried and ironed. This makes it a wonderful luxury alternative to silk linen. Cotton is cool, comfortable and easy to maintain.

Linen:
Linen is one of the oldest fibers and is know for its flexibility and softness. Linen comes from the flax plant and is a long fiber. The nicest thing about linen is that it gets softer with use. It does however crease easily.
Linen has a very high absorbancy and is able to wick away moisture, without feeling damp.

Care:
Linen can withstand high temperatures, so caring for linen is easy. It may be washed, tumble dried and ironed on high heat. It is however, best to iron linen whilst still slightly damp for the best results.
